Hematite
Haematite is an iron-stone whose name is derived fronm the Greek word for blood, due to the colour produced when its crushed or scratched. We have used a different spelling here to denote the use of a re-formed and moulded version which now mainly replaces solid Haematite as a raw material for jewellery manufacture. Our Hematite necklaces have all the weight and polish of Haematite yet without the surface blemishes often seen on untreated beads.
